NEPSE to Remain Closed Today, Govt Announces Public Holiday to Honor Qatar Emir's State Visit

The Government of Nepal has declared Tuesday (today), the 11th of Baishakh, a public holiday in recognition of the visit by Qatar's Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.

To honor the state visit of the Emir of Qatar, the Nepal Stock Exchange Limited (NEPSE) will be closed. Regular trading will resume on Wednesday (12th Baishakh, 2081) at 11:00 AM.

In recent trading, the Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) Index experienced a decline of 0.77%, losing 15.41 points to close at 1,969.02.

Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, who became the Emir of Qatar in 2013, presides over an authoritarian government. In Qatar, where political parties are banned and elections are not considered free, Tamim holds comprehensive executive and legislative powers. Internationally, he has boosted Qatar's visibility through initiatives like hosting the 2022 FIFA World Cup and owning the football club Paris Saint-Germain F.C.
