After three days of subsequent downfall in the local bourse, today finally the market index rallied up by 2.49 points to close at 540.94 levels. The benchmark index which traded in the red zone for the entire three hours yesterday, today was all in the opposite direction as the market index started its trade above the yesterday’s closing and remained so for the entire trading hours.
Altogether there were trade of seven sectors today, Banking, Development and Insurance were only the sectors that made gains of 4.05, 0.84 and 4.44 points respectively. In Banking, Nabil Bank Ltd. (NABIL), Prime Commercial Bank Limited (PCBL), Janata Bank Nepal Ltd. (JBNL) and Everest Bank Ltd (EBL) made the double digit incline today.
Likewise in Insurance, Nepal Life Insurance Co. Ltd. (NLIC) and Life Insurance Co. Nepal (LICN) were only the gainer scrips in that sector with Rs 30 and Rs 19 respectively. Whereas in Development, Gaurishankar Development Bank Ltd. (GDBL), closed at Rs 84, has proposed to distribute 8% cash dividend to its shareholders which is subjected to approval from NRB and its upcoming AGM. The announcement help to propel the scrip by Rs 7 or 9.09%, making the scrip best performer of the day.
While, the descent in the level of Bishal Bazaar Co. Ltd. (BBCL) by Rs 35 dragged the Trading sector down by 2.96 points. Likewise, plunge in the price of Nepal Doorsanchar Company Limited also brought down the Other sector by 1.18 points. Similarly, Hydro and Finance also plummeted by 0.45 and 0.24 points respectively.
Overall there were trade of 82 scrips among which 44 scrips increased 11 remained intact and 27 scrips decreased. The highest gainer among the shares trading above par was, Biratlaxmi Bikash Bank Limited (BLDBL), closed at Rs 130, with Rs 10 or 8.33% gain. Whereas, Uniliver Nepal Ltd. (UNL), closed at Rs 9300, was the highest loser with Rs 450 or 4.62% loss.
In terms of highest share traded, H & B Development Bank Ltd. (HBDL), closed at Rs 61, topped with 77,822 units. Whereas among the shares trading above par, Nepal Bangladesh Bank Ltd. (NBB), closed at Rs 350 topped with 54,610 units. Similarly, NBB today also had the highest turnover worth Rs 18,786,540 which were carried out by 89 transactions; in which Broker no 10 (Pragyan Securities Pvt. Limited) was the most active Broker with 21.77% stand alone dealing of NBB, tallying 12,000 units worth Rs 4,090,000 via 2 buying transactions.
Altogether 366,528 units of shares were traded by 1,263 transactions worth Rs 106,346,381; the market capitalization at the end of the day stood at Rs 524,724.11 million.
