Nepse loses another 6.21 points, turnover rises to over Rs 18 crore

The benchmark index of Nepal Stock Exchange Limited (Nepse) shed 6.21 points or 0.68 percent to close at 908.83 level today.
The market remained sluggish today as yesterday, the first day of the second trading week after the festive holidays. The Nepse index had lost 6.84 points or 0.74 percent to close at 915.04 level yesterday.
The total market turnover today stood at 18.46 crore, which is however slightly better than yesterday.
Group-wise, just two – the Insurance and Manufacturing -- out of the nine sub-indices closed in the green zone while another – Trading—remained constant.
The Banking Group, which covers around 80 percent of the total market capital, shed modest 2.96 points to close just above 800 level. The Hotels group lost 6.95 points, Development Bank 1.57, Hydropower 14.21 points, Finance 3.84 points, and the Others group lost 29.37 points.
On the other hand, the Insurance sub-index posted a gain of 5.8 points and Manufacturing gained 0.93 points.
The lingering festive mood, some confusion regarding the CDS implementation, plus political undercurrents have been attributed as the major factors behind the sluggish market we have been witnessing after the Dashain festival.
