Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE), the country’s only secondary market was seen in the upward trajectory in the month of July (July 2 to 31), NEPSE index record a monthly gain of 110.87 points or 7.19 percent to settle at 1652.69 points — over a -month high.
The sensitive index, which measures the performance of Group ‘A’ companies, rose 6.10 percent. Likewise, the float index that indicates the performance of public (tradable) shares also went up by 6.82 percent during the review period.
Over 3.97 crore units shares were traded in the month of July from 1.63 lakhs different transactions. This accounted for a significant increase in turnover above Rs 19.12 arba in the month of July.
Among the nine subgroups, Insurance sub group gained the most by 18.87% followed by Manufacturing & Productions groups which rises by 15.68%. The market capitalization at the end of the month has increased by 7.02% or 1.80 kharba.

In the month of July, Nepal Life Insurance posted the biggest turnover of Rs 1.07 arba. It was followed by Forward Community Bittiya Sanstha Limited (FOWAD) with a turnover of Rs 55.12 crore. Nepal Life Insurance’s transaction also increased to 13,771. Forward Community, Rastriya Beema Company, NB Insurance, Kalika Microcredit and Oriental Hotels were among the top five companies which gained the most. Meanwhile, Kankai Bikas Bank, Sanima Mai Hydropower, Century Commercial Bank, National Life Insurance and Dibyashwori hydropower were among the top losers.
NMB Sulav Investment Fund-1 topped in terms of the number of shares traded.
