NEPSE goes further down; loses 51.89 closing at 1,168.55 points

NEPSE index has declined by a striking 51.89 points or 4.25% today. The market had opened at 1,220.41, which dropped by 3% within the first hour because of which circuit breaker was applied and market resumed operation from 11:55 AM. After that there was np significant improvement in the market and index was seen fluctuating throughout the rest of the day and finally ended up in red at 1,168.74 points. Total turnover worth Rs 47.7 crore was witnessed during the trading hours as more than 15.7 lakh unit shares were traded in the whole day. 7,546 transactions were made for the transaction of the scrips. Nepal Life Insurance Company (NLIC) stood ahead in terms of turnover as more than 5.5 crore worth shares were traded. Similarly, Nepal Bank Limited (NBL) was the top in case of number of shares traded as 77.5 thousand unit shares were exchanged. Likewise, only two companies landed in green zone. Between the Progressive Finance Limited (PROFL) was the top gainer with 9.86% increase in its price. The second was Swadeshi Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha (SDESI) with 1.92% increase. And, NLG Insurance Company (NLG) was the top loser of the day losing 10% on its price. The sub-indices for all sectors landed in red today. Out of all, Insurance was the top losing sector as it tumbled by 383.92.
