NEPSE ends up in red after gaining 20 points within 30 mins, turnover stands above Rs 84.70 crore

The benchmark capital market index, Nepal Stock Exchange Limited (NEPSE), has decreased by 6.05 points or 0.39% to close at 1530.49 points today.

Today, NEPSE Index opened at 1536.54 points and the local bourse gained over 20 points within the first 30 minutes of trading. However, the market could not sustain the gain and eventually came on a downward spiral as it shed 6.05 points. The total turnover of the day stood above Rs 84.70 crore in which more than 12.12 lakh units shares were traded through 6,571 transactions.

Standard Chartered Bank Nepal Limited (SCB) topped the list of companies in terms of turnover (Rs 26.97 crore) and in terms of shares traded (120,589 units) today.

Sensitive and float index decreased by 1.05 points and 0.61 points respectively.

Except Manufacturing & Production and others sectors, the sub-indices of all other seven sectors were seen in red at the end of the day. However, the trading sector was seen unchanged. Manufacturing & Production sector gained the most (i.e. 40.24 points). On the other hand, insurance sector lost the most (i.e. 72.82 units) followed by microfinance sector (i.e. 20.34 units)

Bottlers Nepal (Terai) Limited (BNT) was the top gainer followed by Mahuli Samudayik Laghubitta Sanstha Ltd. (MSLB) while Central Finance Co. Ltd. (CFCL) was among the top losers followed by Laxmi Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Ltd. (LLBS).
