Nepal’s Electricity Capacity Reaches 3,602 MW; 99% of Population Now Has Access to Power

Nepal’s total electricity generation capacity has climbed to 3,602 megawatts as of mid-March 2025, according to the Economic Survey 2025/26 presented on Thursday by Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Paudel. The figure reflects the combined output from hydropower projects and alternative energy sources.
With this increase in energy capacity, nationwide access to electricity has reached 99 percent of the population, marking a significant milestone in the country’s infrastructure development.
In addition, the survey highlights that the total length of roads built under the federal government has reached 36,132 kilometers, incorporating both strategic and local routes.
The report also notes growing digital connectivity: internet user density now stands at 144.23 percent, while 72 percent of households across the country have access to digital television services.
