Nepali ATMs fall prey to Chinese hackers; Exact amount robbed not confirmed yet

The police has apprehended four Chinese Citizens who have hacked into the banking system and robbed more than Rs 5 crore. Therefore most of the ATM machines are down and out of service since yesterday.

The exact amount that has been robbed is still not confirmed while some accomplices are still on the run. Nepal Rastra Bank has called an emergency meeting in regards to the same. All the banks have been requested to check their accounts to get the clear view of crisis in terms of number.

The gang pulled off this heist by hacking into the Nepal Electronic Payment System used by 17 banks of Nepal. The preliminary investigation has showed that 6 banks have been affected, out of which 2 banks' entire system has been hacked.
