Nepalgunj Sub-Metropolitan City Unveils Rs 1.5 Billion Budget for Fiscal Year 2081-82

Nepalgunj Sub-Metropolitan City in Banke has presented a budget of Rs 1.5 billion for the upcoming fiscal year 2081-82 BS. In the 15th Convention of the Sub Metropolis, chaired by Mayor Prashant Bista, Deputy Mayor Kamaruddin Rai introduced the budget of Rs 1,503,886,000, which is Rs 350 million less than the current fiscal year. The federal government will contribute Rs 612.4 million through conditional grants, alongside Rs 10 million in complementary grants and Rs 15 million in special grants. Additionally, the provincial government will provide Rs 20.4 million in conditional grants and Rs 14 million in complementary grants.

The budget aims to prioritize advancements in the education sector and enhance internal revenue collection through expanded taxation efforts. Deputy Mayor Rai emphasized economic development, infrastructure, social welfare, forest and environmental conservation, disaster management, and institutional governance. The local government plans to promote religious tolerance and develop Nepalgunj as a human-friendly city by conserving ponds and lakes and setting up a burn treatment center at Nepalgunj Sub-Metropolis-20.

Policies for the next fiscal year include free health checkups and treatments, free ambulance services for target groups, continued free cataract surgeries, health insurance for people with disabilities, IT-based teaching-learning activities in schools, implementing local curriculum programs, disaster management, disabled-friendly infrastructure in schools, and fostering a gender-friendly environment.
