Nepal Targets Rice Self-Sufficiency Within Two Years; Rs. 330 Million Earmarked to Promote Chaite Paddy Cultivation
The government has set a target to achieve self-sufficiency in rice production within the next two years.
While announcing the budget for the fiscal year 2082/83, Finance Minister Paudel said that in order to reduce rice imports, the government has allocated Rs. 330 million to promote the cultivation of Chaite Dhaan (spring paddy). The move is expected to boost domestic production and support the broader goal of agricultural independence.
