Nepal & Surya Life Insurance profit surges by 43.50% & 38.46% respectively in Q2

Nepal Life Insurance Company Limited (NLIC) has posted net profit rise by 43.50% for the second quarter of the fiscal year 2072/73. As per the unaudited report for the second quarter published today, the insurance company reported a net profit of Rs.14.39 crore in the Q2 of current fiscal year, up from 10.02 crore in the corresponding period last year. The company’s net earnings from premiums grew to Rs.4.07 arba from Rs.3.53arba. NLIC has a paid up capital of Rs. 1.73 arba in Q2. The reserve fund of the company has decreased to Rs. 26.54 crore in Q2 from Rs.64.16 crore in the same quarter previous fiscal year. Meanwhile, the company’s insurance fund has risen to Rs.27.35 arba from Rs. 20.36 arba. The company’s number of policy holders has risen to 10.21 lakhs this quarter compared to 9.85 lakh reported in the same period last year. Nepal Life’s annualized Earning Per Share (EPS) stands at Rs. 16.61, net worth per share is at Rs. 120.54 and P/E ratio at 198.79 times. Likewise, Surya Life Insurance Company Limited (SLICL) has reported 38.46% increase in profit for the second quarter of the fiscal year 2072/73. In the unaudited financial report for the second quarter, the insurance company reported a net profit of Rs 2.10 crore, up from Rs. 1.52 crore in the corresponding period last year. The company’s net earnings from premiums rose to Rs.34.46 crore from Rs.26.53 crore. The company has a paid up capital of Rs.50 crore. The reserve fund of the company has risen to Rs.15.56 crore in Q2 from Rs. 13.58 crore in the previous fiscal year. Likewise, its insurance fund has risen to Rs. 1.26 arba from Rs.80.15 crore. Surya Life Insurance’s number of policy holders has increased to 2.30 lakhs this quarter from 1.26 lakh reported in the same period of last year. Its EPS stands at Rs. 8.44 (annualized), net worth per share is at Rs.133.68 and P/E ratio at 91.83 times.
