Kathmandu Clean Air Dialogue Sparks Cross-Sector Action for a Healthier Future
inDrive hosted the Kathmandu Clean Air Dialogue, bringing together government officials, experts, civil society, and private sector representatives to tackle air pollution in Kathmandu. The event focused on aligning stakeholders, mapping the current air quality landscape, identifying challenges, and engaging the private sector.
The Minister of Forest and Environment highlighted progress and emphasized the need for collective action. Kathmandu’s air pollution stems largely from biomass, household emissions, transport, and industry, worsened by winter smog. The dialogue also launched the Nepal Taza Initiative, based on the Almaty Air Initiative’s Brain, Voice, Bridge framework to strengthen data-driven systems, public awareness, and policy change. Experts emphasized that lasting improvements require credible data, informed citizens, and close government collaboration. The initiative marks a key step toward sustainable, cross-sector solutions for cleaner air in Nepal.
