In a move that is set to facilitate the Dashain festival with renewed vigor, the Nepal Rastra Bank has officially announced the availability of a new note exchange facility starting today, Ashwin 29.

Last year, the central bank had arranged for the exchange of new notes a week before Dashain, but this year, they've made slight adjustments to the schedule. The Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) has worked diligently to provide the public with this essential service to usher in the festive season.

The NRB has organized the process for obtaining new notes within the Kathmandu Valley through its Monetary Management Department and specific branch offices of licensed commercial banks. Additionally, individuals can also exchange their old notes for new ones at the nearest branch office designated by their respective commercial banks.

For those residing outside the Kathmandu Valley, the NRB has streamlined the process for new note exchanges. People in these areas can visit their state's NRB office or the branch designated by the commercial bank.

It's worth noting that the NRB is allowing individuals to exchange up to Rs 18,500 per person this year. This equates to 1-1 bundles of new notes in denominations of 5, 10, 20, 50, and 100 rupees.

In a forward-thinking move, the NRB has also introduced the use of QR codes in its currency management department this year. Customers looking to exchange new notes can now use QR codes for seamless transactions, as confirmed by an official from Rashtra Bank.
