The Nepal government has officially launched a nationwide crackdown on all forms of online betting and illegal gambling platforms. Under a new directive from the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, the Nepal Telecommunications Authority (NTA) has been ordered to block access to all betting related apps and websites as soon as possible. This move is a key part of the government’s new 100 Point Reform Plan aimed at cleaning up digital activities and enforcing existing laws. Authorities have already identified and started blocking over 200 platforms, including well known sites, to prevent illegal money from leaving the country and to protect the public from financial risks.

This ban carries serious legal consequences for anyone who continues to use or operate these services. According to the law, those involved in illegal betting can face heavy fines and jail time ranging from three months to one year. The government is also monitoring for the use of tools like VPNs to bypass these blocks, warning that any attempt to access these prohibited sites is a violation of the law. This swift action reflects the new administration's "zero tolerance" policy toward digital crimes and its commitment to social and financial stability across the country.
