National Economic Census 2082 Reaches 87 Percent Completion
The Second National Economic Census 2082, conducted by the National Statistics Office, has reached 87.08 percent completion, according to information shared during a press conference held at the NSO office in Thapathali on Sunday. The census, which officially began on April 15, will continue until June 21.
Speaking at the event, Deputy Chief Statistics Officer and spokesperson Dhundi Raj Lamichhane said that enumerators deployed across the country have already collected a large amount of field data. He informed that more than 800,000 paper forms and over 10,000 census tokens have been distributed so far during the ongoing nationwide economic survey.
Chief Statistics Officer Dr. Kamal Prasad Pokhrel said that on-site data collection is being carried out actively and urged all institutions involved in the process to provide accurate and factual information. He also requested journalists, especially those working in radio, to help raise public awareness about the ongoing economic census.
Dr. Pokhrel stated that the National Economic Census would become an important foundation for the government in achieving its future economic goals. According to him, the census will help collect detailed information about business establishments, the number of businesses, employment conditions, and the overall economic status of enterprises across the country. He added that the data would support the strengthening of gross domestic product estimates, national accounts, and establishment-based surveys, while also assisting governments at all levels in formulating and evaluating economic development policies, plans, and programmes.
