NAC's new airbus to arrive today
KATHMANDU, Feb 8: The national flag carrier Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC) will be receiving a new airbus for international flights on Sunday.
The A320-200 series airplane that the NAC purchased from French Airbus Company will land at the Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) amid a special ceremony at 3:30 pm, the NAC officials confirmed.
The airplane will make the landing amid greetings from Panchakanya and the recitation of religious mantra by Pandit, said Madan Kharel NAC Managing Director.
Likewise, Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Deepak Chandra Amatya and French Ambassador to Nepal will also welcome the airplane accompanied with the playing of Panchabaja.
The NAC had reached an agreement with French Airbus Company for purchase of two airplanes last year. With the arrival of new airplane, the NAC will be equipped with additional suppleness to make flights to new destinations. The second airplane will arrive two months after, it is learnt.
Currently, NAC has been making flights to Doha, Hong Kong, Bangkok and Kuala Lumpur. The flight to Dubai has been on hold while flight to Indian capital city of New Delhi has been completely halted. The NAC plans to increase flights to those destinations after the arrival of the two airbuses.
NAC recently brought China-made MA 60 and Y12 model aircrafts. MA 60 has been flying to urban destinations while Y 12 has been making trips to Pokhara and hinterlands of the country. RSS
