Tourist arrivals in Mustang have witnessed a significant surge, with foreign tourist visits increasing by 81.84 percent compared to the same period of the previous fiscal year.

According to the District Police Office, Mustang, a total of 244,880 foreign tourists visited the district by mid-June in the current fiscal year, compared to 134,664 visitors recorded during the corresponding period of fiscal year 2025/26.

The increase has been largely driven by a sharp rise in Indian travelers. Police Inspector and Information Officer Ishwar Mahat stated that 90,939 foreign tourists entered Mustang during the month of Jestha (mid-May to mid-June) alone, with nearly 90 percent of them being Indian tourists.

In comparison, only 24,372 foreign tourists had visited Mustang during the same month last year.

The district has recorded steady tourism growth over the years, with 99,399 foreign visitors in fiscal year 2024/25, which rose to 150,453 in fiscal year 2025/26, highlighting Mustang’s growing popularity as one of Nepal’s leading travel destinations.
