Minister Ramesh Rijal Urges Ease in Supply System to Control Food Prices
Industry, Commerce, and Supply Minister Ramesh Rijal has directed the authorities to streamline the country's supply system to prevent a hike in food prices.
During a discussion held at the ministry on Wednesday, Minister Rijal assured his full support and cooperation in resolving any issues that may arise in the supply chain.
He emphasized the importance of all concerned bodies being vigilant to prevent any shortcomings in the supply chain and urged everyone to play their respective roles on behalf of the ministry. He also committed to facilitating the supply of essential goods effectively.
Present at the meeting were the Secretary of the Ministry of Industry, Commerce, and Supply, the Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development, officials from various ministries and departments, and heads of public bodies associated with the supply sector.
Representatives from the private sector, including the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) and Confederation of Nepaliese Industries (CNI) also actively participated in the discussion.
Madhu Kumar Marasini, Secretary of the Ministry of Industry, Commerce, and Supply, emphasized the need for collaboration between the government and private sectors to ensure an efficient and well-organized supply system.
The meeting also addressed the intensification of market monitoring, particularly focusing on the upcoming festivals, and discussed ways to tackle any potential issues arising from India's policy of banning rice exports.
