Meeting of Finance Committee With Stakeholders to Discuss Resumption of New Broker Licensing Procedures Underway; Source: MPs Responsing Positively

The meeting of the Finance Committee scheduled for today with the stakeholders is underway. 

Earlier, a Finance Committee meeting had been scheduled for Tuesday, Ashad 05, 2080, at 8:00 am in the Secretariat premises of the Federal Parliament.

Chairman of the Securities Board of Nepal (SEBON) Ramesh Kumar Hamal along with Members of Parliament (MPs) who are members of the Finance Committee are present in the ongoing meeting. 

The meeting has been called today, to discuss potential resumption of temporary, indefinite ban imposed by the Finance Committee on all licensing procedures for new stock brokers on Jestha 29, 2080.

Chairman Hamal had earlier mentioned that the matter will be discussed during the meeting, and the New Stock Brokers Association Nepal will have SEBON's support. 

Addressing the meeting, SEBON Chairman Hamal, in line with his past assurance to the New Stock Brokers Association Nepal, advocated that the Finance Committee's decision must be rectified, as it is in the best interest of the capital market.

A source present in today's meeting shared that as of now the MPs have responded positively. 

The Finance Committee comprises of 24 members, who are MPs representing different parties.
