Machhapuchchhre Bank signs pact with UKaid Sakchyam

Machhapuchchhre Bank Limited has signed an agreement with UKaid Sakchyam Access to Finance for Sakchyam MBL Banking Access project. Niraj Kumar Shrestha, CEO of Machhapuchchhre Bank and Baljit Vohra, Team Leader, UKaid Sakchyam Access to Finance signed an agreement amidst a program today. With this agreement, MBL will reach out to the unbanked section of the society to fulfill the financial needs of individuals. IMG_1124 Issuing a press statement, it stated that the facility will open 20 branchless banking services in 7 districts of Far and Mid-Western regions of the country which includes places like Bank, Dang, Kailali, Kanchanpur, Rupandehi,  Surkhet district and Dhading district. Mr. Niraj Kumar Shrestha, CEO, Machhapuchhre Bank said, “Machhapuchchhre Bank has always believed in taking financial services to the reach of all Nepalese. We are glad to be partnering with Sakchyam to introduce more branches and our services in rural Nepal.” Mr. Baljit Vohra, Team Leader, Sakchyam, said, “Sakchyam is happy to partner with Machhapuchchhre Bank to help take its innovative products and services to rural populations.” The bank aims to reach over 9,000 beneficial owners within 3 years of this project. Likewise, with dedicated relationship managers and financial literacy campaign, the bank will reach more than 13,000 beneficial owners. Machhapuchchhre Bank Limited (MBL) started its operation in 1998 B.S. from Pokhara. The bank has been providing services to more than 4,50,000 customers till date. Sakchyam is a UK Aid-funded Access to Finance initiative. It is implemented for DFID Nepal by Louis Berger, in partnership with local and international partner institutions.
