Lumbini Province Assembly Member Rekha Sharma Detained Over Child Labour Allegation

Lumbini Province Assembly Member Rekha Sharma was detained by police on Sunday night on allegations of forcing a young girl into child labour.

According to her spouse, Chintamani Sharma, the arrest was made at their residence in Dhumbarahi, Kathmandu. A team from the Kathmandu Valley Crime Investigation Office took Sharma into custody at around 11:00 pm.

Sharma, who was elected from the CPN (UML), is currently under investigation in connection with the case. Police have stated that further inquiries are underway to determine the facts surrounding the allegation.

Authorities have yet to release additional details, and the case remains under active investigation.
