The "132-kV Transmission Line Project" is expected to be completed within the remaining eight months, as per the deadline. The Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) Karnali initially encountered challenges related to land acquisition for the project's implementation. However, these disputes have now been largely resolved. Minister for Energy, Water Resources, and Irrigation, Shakti Bahadur Basnet, has reported that compensation for the acquired land is being distributed in accordance with the agreement.

This three-year project is designed to address electricity issues not only in Surkhet but also in several other districts within the Karnali province, including Jajarkot, Dailekh, Jumla, Kalikot, and Dolpa. The contract for this project was signed in 2077 BS with the Indian company RS Infraprojects Pvt Ltd at a cost of Rs 700 million. To date, the project has reported approximately 70 percent progress, according to the project office. In total, 26 towers will be installed between Kohalpur and Surkhet as part of this project.
