Youth leader and entrepreneur Kiran KC has been elected as a member of the Central Working Committee of the Nepali Congress, marking a significant step in his decade-long political career within the party.

KC, a native of Pokhara, has been active in the Nepali Congress for around a decade. He served as a general convention delegate at the party’s 14th General Convention in 2021 and was also involved as a committee member of the party’s Energy and Water Resources Department in Gandaki Province.

Alongside politics, KC has established a strong presence in Nepal’s business sector. He is a director of KC Group of Companies and is particularly active in hydropower, finance, construction, hospitality, and real estate.

KC serves as chairman of Sikles Hydropower and Bhagawati Hydropower and holds director positions in several hydropower companies, including Gandaki Hydropower, United Idi-Mardi Hydropower, Civil Hydropower and Karuwa Seti Hydropower.

He has also been involved in the financial and insurance sectors, including as a director of Sun Nepal Life Insurance. His late father, Surya Bahadur KC, was a prominent industrialist, former Member of Parliament and Constituent Assembly member, and was associated with the establishment of Machhapuchchhre Bank.

KC has continued his family's business legacy through involvement in multiple sectors. The KC family owns Himshree Foods Pvt. Ltd., the producer of the Rara instant noodle brand. He is also associated with KC Construction, Pokhara Homes and Aabhya Club, among other ventures.

The businesses and projects associated with KC and his family collectively employ more than 15,000 people, according to the information provided.

KC has also been active in education and social initiatives. He chairs the Management Committee of Kalika Multiple Campus in Pokhara, where his family has invested more than Rs 3.26 crore in a multipurpose facility. He is also a director at Pokhara School of Tourism and Hospitality Management.

During his campaign for the Nepali Congress Central Committee, KC emphasized the need to connect politics with production, employment generation, investment security, and economic development.

He has argued that the party needs to combine the experience and political contribution of senior leaders and workers with the energy, creativity, technological awareness and changing socio-economic understanding of the younger generation.

With his election to the Central Working Committee, KC is expected to bring his experience from the private sector, particularly in energy, finance, and entrepreneurship, into the party's organizational and policy discussions.
