Kathmandu Metropolitan City to Launch Night Bus Service from Baisakh 1 in Collaboration with Sajha Yatayat

Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) is set to operate a night time public transport service in collaboration with Sajha Yatayat starting Baisakh 1, 2083.

Two routes have been planned for the service. The first is a north-south route running 16 kilometres one-way, starting from Lagankhel in Lalitpur and passing through Patan Hospital, Alka, Norvic Hospital, Prasuti Griha, Trauma Centre, Bir Hospital, Kanti Hospital, Teaching Hospital, and Gangalal Heart Centre before reaching Budhanilkantha. The second is an east-west route covering 20 kilometres one-way, starting from Thankot and passing through Satungal, Kalanki, Kalimati, Tripureshwor, Thapathali, Maitighar Mandala, Baneshwor, Minbhawan, and Tinkune, with the final stop at Tribhuvan International Airport. A total of 4 electric buses will operate across these two routes.

The service will run from 8:00 PM to 11:00 PM, with buses arriving at designated stops every 20 minutes. For passenger safety, the buses will be fitted with CCTV cameras and municipal police will be deployed on board.

Acting Chief Dangol stated that the goal is to make the service modern, integrated, convenient, safe, reliable, and sustainable, and that the Metropolitan City remains open to collaborating with partners to achieve this vision.
