Kathmandu Metropolitan City Surpasses Internal Revenue Collection Targets in Shrawan

In a noteworthy achievement, Kathmandu Metropolitan City has successfully collected 654.2 million rupees in internal revenue during Shrawan, marking the first month of the financial year (FY) 2080/81. This impressive amount reflects a substantial increase of nearly 20 crores compared to the revenue collected in the same period last year. In Shrawan of the previous fiscal year 2079/80, the metropolis had gathered 458.9 million rupees in revenue.

The revenue department of the metropolis reports that the increase in revenue can be attributed to higher collections in property tax and house maintenance tax compared to the previous year.

Specifically, in Shrawan of the previous year, property tax collections amounted to 7.9 crores, whereas in Shrawan of the current year, an impressive 12.58 crores in revenue was collected. Similarly, the metropolis managed to secure 39.60 crores in house maintenance tax revenue in the first month of the current fiscal year.

To provide further context, in FY 2077/78, the metropolis had raised 26.39 million rupees, and this figure had increased to 43.53 crore rupees in FY 2078/79. This steady growth in revenue collection demonstrates the metropolis's commitment to effective financial management and resource generation for urban development.
