The Third International Investment Summit, initially slated for April 21-22, has been rescheduled to April 28 and 29, as confirmed by Sushil Bhatta, the Chief Executive Officer of the Investment Board and member secretary of the Investment Summit Steering Committee.

The rescheduling decision was made to allow for optimal preparation and participation. The revised dates are expected to be formally endorsed during the second meeting of the Steering Committee at the Finance Ministry today.

Chaired by Finance Minister Prakash Sharan Mahat, the Steering Committee plays a pivotal role in approving the schedule and format of the Summit, identifying areas for policy reforms to enhance the investment atmosphere, and overseeing all aspects of the Summit. Committee members include ministers from various sectors, the vice-chair of the National Planning Commission, chief secretary, governor of Nepal Rastra Bank, secretary at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers, finance secretary, industry secretary, and representatives from the private sector.

During its first meeting on November 26, the Steering Committee directed the government to facilitate discussions with potential investors, identify likely investors, call for project proposals, and secure their endorsements.

To ensure the success of the Summit, both the Implementation Committee and the Technical Committee have been established. These committees are tasked with undertaking legal and structural reforms and informing investors about the event. The Implementation Committee, led by the chief secretary, has recently issued a circular seeking details of viable projects from province and local levels to be presented as showcase projects during the Summit.

The rescheduled Summit aims to foster a conducive environment for investment, showcase potential projects, and facilitate meaningful discussions between investors and key stakeholders.
