Increase in selling pressure drags NEPSE index down by 6.40 points; turnover dips to Rs 52.20 crore after broker suspension

The benchmark index at Nepal Stock Exchange Limited (NEPSE) has declined by 6.40 points or 0.40% to close at 1611.57 points. Nepse Index opened at 1617.99 points and the local bourse was seen in downward trend. Today, seven brokers were suspended due to failure in submitting regulatory fee within stipulated time frame to SEBON and were barred from making any transaction on the market today led to the impact upon the transaction in the overall secondary market of today. The total turnover amount came down to Rs 52.20 crore in which more than 26.87 lakh units shares were traded through 5,108 transactions. index Prime Life Insurance Company Limited (PLIC) topped the list of companies in terms of turnover (Rs 7.21 crore) while Siddhartha Investment Growth Scheme-1 (SIGS1) was at the top in terms of number of shares traded (10.30 lakh units). The best performer of the day were Himalayan Power Partner Limited (HPPL) and World Merchant Banking Finance Limited (WMBF) hitting 10% positive circuit break while Himalayan Distillary limited (HDL) was the biggest loser today. Sensitive and float index slightly went down by 1.12 and 0.44 points respectively. Except Others sub-group, all other groups landed in red.
