It seems that the efforts of the pressure group will bring the mentioned reforms in the market. This is because of the support being shown by fellow investors to the group. The group had requested investors to boycott trading on the securities market and almost an hour has passed since the market opened, but transactions have not taken place.
On enquiring with NEPSE’s spokesperson, Mr. Murahari Parajuli, he said that the website is working properly but it seems that the investors are voluntarily not processing any transaction. On being asked about the updates regarding the protest and meeting demands, he said that currently there is no information regarding the same and they are not at liberty to formally discuss it. As per some of the brokers, only few transactions have happened today and support for the demands of pressure group from investors can be felt.
The website is not being updated as well. The latest information on the website as of 11:23 AM suggests that turnover of Rs.8.73 Lakh has been posted, achieved through trade of 2,076 units of shares traded through 17 transaction. Although, the amount of gain has been differing with every refresh while the amount of turnover and mentioned time remains the same.
If such strong and rigid support from investors continues, the government and concerned regulatory authorities will have to find a viable solution before the situation spirals out of control and worsens.
