IBN invites RFP from four firms

KATHMANDU, Feb 11: Investment Board Nepal has invited Req-uest for Proposal (RFP) from four shortlisted firms to conduct feasibility study for establishing chemical fertilizers plant in Nepal.

IBN has shortlisted four firms for the study. They are JV of TATA Consulting Engineers Limited (India) and SILT Engineers and Consultant Pvt Ltd (Nepal); JV of Projects and Development India Limited (India) and PSA Consultants for Nepal; JV of Infrastructure Development Corporation (Karnatak) Ltd India (iDeck) and Institute of Agricultural Technologies and Feedback Infrastructure Service Nepal Ltd; and JV of JACOBs Consultancy and Taylor Dejongh and Everesheds Tower Bridge Court, UK.
The selected firms will have to submit RFP within 61 days of the publication of notice i.e. February 9. The government has earmarked Rs 350 million for to conduct feasibility study of operating a chemical fertilizers plant in Nepal.

Establishment of chemical fertilizer plant would be a milestone for the country where 66 percent of the total population is involved in farming. It is believed that the smooth supply of chemical fertilizers can give a boost to agricultural growth.

Experts say the contribution of agricultural sector to Gross Domestic Product (GDP) will increase significantly if farmers get necessary agricultural inputs in time.

IBN had invited Expression of Interest (EoI) for the purpose in September. Altogether five firms had submitted their EoI at IBN.
