Himalayan Hydro Expo 2018 to kick off on 5th January

Independent Power Producers' Association, Nepal (IPPAN) and Expo & Event Management Services Pvt. Ltd, the organizers of the forthcoming Himalayan Hydro Expo 2018, are reportedly in the final preparation for the event. The event is taking place at Bhirkutimandap, Kathmandu from 5th to 7th January 2018 under the patronage of the Government of Nepal, National Planning Commission , Ministry of Energy and Ministry of Environment and Population. The press release issued by the organizer states that three seminars/workshops on key hydropower issues have been confirmed so far. With a view to encourage youth generation and increase the interests of investors, it’s also reported that the hydro expo competition will be organized among the hydro-related products and services developed by students and individual innovators and the best will be awarded with cash prize of Rs. 50,000 plus. National and multinational organizations interested in participating at the expo have already confirmed their engagement. Multinational companies like VOITH, CRYSTAL, FLOVEL, VAPTECH, MAVEL and BFL have already confirmed their participation. This event is expected to provide a common knowledge sharing platform for hydro-developers, hydropower equipment manufacturers and suppliers, designers, consultant, insurance companies, investors and banking institutions to showcase their expertise and synergize for betterment of hydropower development within the nation. The event is timed considering Nepal Government’s plans of developing 17,000 MW within a decade. This event will provide a common platform for all interested groups to come together and join hands for hydropower development. The Expo will showcase various stalls from hydropower developers, risk seeking investors, associated state-of-the-art technology equipment manufacturers and suppliers, investors, banks and construction companies. Amongst these stalls, multinational stalls from India, Norway, South Korea, Germany, Austria, Bulgaria, Czech Republic etc. will also participate directly. The exhibition will be supplemented by presentations on various aspects of hydropower development from prominent institutions and individuals. The exhibition will also showcase projects as competition for Hydropower Products and Services developed by emerging students, management students, individual and future leaders. The outcome of the Expo will help to build a status report, a clear picture of the state of affairs and establish a plan of action with designated roles and responsibilities, Projects for domestic market with FDI components and Power market mechanism, added the statement.
