KATHMANDU, July 12:
'Hike for Nepal' campaign was inaugurated in Kathmandu on Saturday.
Popular artiste Rajesh Hamal inaugurated the campaign by signing the campaign t-shirt. According to a statement issued by the organizers, more than 150 persons participated in the hiking to Jamacho from Nagarjun gate.
"Through the 'Hike for Nepal' campaign, we are creating a common platform for hikers, nature lovers and other interested people from diverse backgrounds where they meet every week and hike together. People can share their ideas, experiences while hiking and can contribute to support for a good cause," said Ganesh Sharma, tourism entrepreneur and organizing chairman of the campaign, in the statement.
"Many countries have issued travel advisory, advising their citizens not to visit Nepal in the immediate aftermath of the earthquake. We know only few parts of nation have been affected and most of the tourist destinations are safe to travel. We must let the world know that Nepal is still safe to travel," he added.
'Hike for Nepal' is a social media campaign envisioned by a group of young travel entrepreneurs and travel enthusiasts to promote Nepal as a safe travel destination.
The statement says, 'Hike for Nepal' will also form a coalition of hikers in different countries to raise fund for social causes.
