High Flood Risk in 5 Districts: Weather Update and Warning by Hydrology and Meteorology Department

The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, Flood Forecasting Division has informed that there is a high risk of flooding in the rivers flowing around the five districts.
According to the bulletin published by the department, the risk of flash floods is high in smaller rivers flowing around Banke, Bardiya, Kailali, Kanchanpur, Dadeldhura today.
Today, the water level in the Mahakali river and its tributaries will rise significantly and may reach the alert level. The department informed that the water level in other major and medium rivers of the country will remain normal.
Similarly, there is a risk of flash floods in Rupandehi, Kapilvastu, Dang, Surkhet, Salyan, Kalikot, Achham, Baitadi, Darchula, Doti, Bajhang, Bajura, Dolakha, Sindhupalchok and some small rivers flowing nearby.
The department has informed that the flow may increase in some small rivers flowing in Ramechhap, Dhading, Nuwakot, Makwanpur, Dailekh, Jajarkot and nearby.
The department has requested to be vigilant in the coastal areas as the flow of water in small rivers will increase.
According to the Meteorological Division, there is a possibility of heavy to very heavy rains in Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali and one or two places of Sudurpaschim Province today.
It is requested to exercise caution as there is a risk of landslides due to rain due to floods and weak slopes.
Variable Cloudiness and Rainfall Expected Across Provinces: Meteorological Update
Today, the weather across the country will be generally to mostly cloudy, with the possibility of light to moderate rain accompanied by thunder and lightning. Specific areas where rain is likely include Bagmati Province, Gandaki Province, Lumbini Province, Karnali Province, and Sudur Pashchim Province. Moreover, there is a chance of heavy to very heavy rainfall at one or two places within these provinces.
Tonight, Koshi Province and Madesh Province can expect partly to generally cloudy conditions, while the rest of the provinces will experience generally to mostly cloudy skies. Similar to today, light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning may occur in various places within Bagmati Province, Lumbini Province, Karnali Province, and Sudur Pashchim Province. Furthermore, there is a possibility of heavy rainfall at one or two places in Lumbini Province, Karnali Province, and Sudur Pashchim Province.
According to meteorological analysis, the current weather patterns are influenced by the monsoon air and a low-pressure system located near Uttar Pradesh in India.
