Govt to Identify Landless Citizens, Ensure Safe Housing: PM Balendra Shah

Prime Minister Balendra Shah has said the government will identify genuine landless citizens and provide a long term housing solution.

In a social media post, he said people living in risky areas will be moved to safer, organized places. For other landless citizens, decisions will be made based on verified data and recommendations from authorities. The Prime Minister also addressed public concerns about actions taken against settlements on riverbanks and public land in the Kathmandu Valley. He said the goal is not eviction, but to ensure proper housing for those in need.

He added that legal hurdles in the Land Act 2021 BS have been removed, allowing the government to start collecting digital data and verifying the status of landless citizens. Shah urged the public not to spread rumors or panic, and assured that the government is committed to providing safe and permanent housing so that no one is left homeless.
