Govt announces cash prizes to SAG medalists

The government has announced cash prize to the gold medal winners of the 13th South Asian Games that came to a close on Tuesday. Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli made the announcement at a programme organized in honour of SAG medalists at his official residence in Baluwatar on Wednesday.

According to the PM, every gold medalist player will get Rs 900 thousand, while those receiving two or more than two gold medals will get Rs 1.1 million. Similarly, those bagging gold medals in the team event will be provided half million rupees each and the coach too gets similar amount. Similarly, PM Oli shared that the player bagging silver medal will get Rs 600 thousand and those bagging bronze medals will be provided Rs 300 thousand.

The prize announcement programme was attended by Minister for Youths and Sports, Jagat Bahadur Bishwokarma, Nepal Olympic Committee Chairperson, Jeevanram Shrestha, Member Secretary of National Sports Council, Ramesh Kumar Silwal and NCP leader Subash Chandra Nembang.

In the SAG that concluded yesterday, Nepal stood second after with 51 gold, 60 silver and 95 bronze medals.
