Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal (Prachanda) assured that the ruling government has adopted policies to encourage direct foreign investments in Nepal while preserving the domestic industries.

Today, PM Dahal took to the poduim of the parliament to respond to questions from Members of Parliament (MPs) in session of the House of Representatives (HoR) that is underway in New Baneshwor.

In response to a question raised by MP Padam Giri, PM Dahal stated that the ruling government has stuck to policies intended at encouraging direct foreign investments in Nepal and preserving the domestic industries to deduce the financial burden of the country.

He added that the government is making efforts to address the challenges of the economy by making improvements in financial, monetary and sector-wise related policies for overall economic durability. "The government has policies in place to encourage transnational investments in Nepal meanwhile preserving domestic industries to lighten the national economical burden."

PM Dahal said, "The government has adopted policies to strengthen the revenue administration, increase range of revenue collection; and to control revenue leakage, migration of national capital and illegal transactions."

He mentioned that the government had reduced unnecessary expenses by maintaining austerity in government spending.

He further stressed that financial federalism will be effectively implemented and financial transfer programs will be strengthened based on evaluation of expenditure needs and revenue capacity.

PM Dahal shared that due to the reasons including impact of the great 2072 earthquake, global economic recession, COVID-19 pandemic, the national economy had plunged on most indicators.

Following the conclusion of the general election last year and subsequent formation of the House of Representatives (HoR) in the federal parliament, this is the first time where MPs have an opportunity to directly question the Prime Minister in the Parliament. Today, 20 lawmakers are expected to question the Prime Minister on a wide range of issues.
