The government is set to dissolve different unnecessary Boards and Committees formed during different periods to reduce government spending.
In absence of sufficient revenue to allocate in the upcoming budget for the fiscal year 2080/81, the government had decided to indefinitely suspend unnecessary Boards and Committees formed earlier.
Office of the Ministry of Finance, Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers have begun discussions with regards to the same.
Earlier in 2075, in co-ordination with expert economist Dilliraj Khanal, Public Expenditure Review Commission had been formed that had recommended the government to dissolve all unnecessary Boards and Committees as it was taking a toll on state revenue. However, during the time the recommendation had not been acted upon.
Currently, an assessment to specify such dispensable committees and boards is being conducted under the supervision of secretary for Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers Baikunth Aryal.
Yesterday, PM Dahal in the parliament had responded to questions from Members of Parliament (MPs). Responding to a question from UML MP Padam Giri he had mentioned that the government had reduced unnecessary expenses by maintaining austerity in government spending.
