The government has initiated plans to construct 500 ward charging stations across the country. Shakti Bahadur Basnet, the Minister of Energy, Water Resources, and Irrigation, revealed that the government is actively promoting the establishment of these charging stations as part of a nationwide campaign.

He made this announcement during the inauguration of the 'Nepal Power Light and Electronics Exhibition,' which commenced in Kathmandu on Saturday. The event aims to provide information about electric vehicles and related materials.

Minister Basnet emphasized that as Nepal gradually achieves self-sufficiency in energy production, the government is aligning its policies and programs to encourage the adoption of electric vehicles and equipment.

To further promote the use of electric vehicles, the government has committed to building 500 charging stations throughout the country.

The Nepal Electricity Authority has already constructed 50 charging stations, most of which are operational, with only one exception.

Minister Basnet asserted that the government is dedicated to the long-term development of the energy sector and is actively working towards this goal. Additionally, he mentioned that the government has recently prepared a new electricity bill, which is currently in the process of being submitted to the federal parliament, to facilitate the timely development of the energy sector.
