Government Permits Nepali Citizens to Acquire ‘Sweat Shares’ in Foreign Companies

The government has announced that Nepali citizens will be allowed to receive ‘sweat shares’ in foreign companies starting from the upcoming Fiscal Year 2025/26. Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Paudel disclosed this during his budget speech.
Minister Paudel explained that Nepali individuals who contribute technology, specialized knowledge, or services to foreign companies will be eligible to acquire sweat shares, recognizing their non-monetary contributions as equity in these firms.
