The Nepalese Government Prolongs Mobile Phone Registration Deadline in MDMS System until Shrawan

As per a recent announcement by the Ministry of Finance, the deadline for registering mobile phones in the Mobile Device Management System (MDMS) has been extended. Originally set in accordance with the Economic Act of 2080, the deadline has now been extended by one month, aligning the cutoff date with the end of the month of Shrawan.

The Nepal Telecommunication Authority has successfully implemented the MDMS, a system with the primary purpose of regulating mobile devices. The ministry's notification highlights that cellular mobile phones that have been unable to complete registration within this system due to various reasons will now have the opportunity to register during this extended period.

This strategic initiative was introduced by the government to streamline the integration of mobile phones entering Nepal as gifts or being imported by individuals without the payment of customs duties. It is important to note that mobile phones will only be operable within Nepal once they have been duly registered in this MDMS system.
