Govenor suggests increment in investment on IT of paramount importance to sustain growth; NRB to launch National payment gateway soon

Governor of Nepal Rastra Bank(NRB), Dr. Chiranjibi Nepal, has suggested bankers invest in IT for the increment of profit. Pointing out the hacking incident 3 weeks ago, he warned if the IT investment would not be done the profit of 4 years will vanish.

A cyberattack could happen anytime and anywhere, so we need to increase the investment in Information Technology. In the program organized by National Banking Institute (NBI) on Thursday, he explained, "The investment done in the IT is for profit, so for the further growth it is extremely important to increase investment in IT".

There is always new innovation happening worldwide continually. Being a developing country we need to be updated too. There is no excuse to say we don't know about particular things. Focusing on the recent launch of RTGS service, he said NRB is going to start National Payment gateway soon.
