Global IME Bank and Janata Bank make final push to becoming the largest bank in Nepal with 19 arba paid up capital and 850 banking centers; sign final merger agreement and wait nod from NRB

Global IME Bank and Janata Bank have signed a final merger agreement on Kartik 8, 2076. The agreement was signed by chairman of Global Bank Mr. Chandra Prasad Dhakal and his counterpart at Janata Bank Mr. Keshav Bahadur Rayamajhi.

Both the banks had signed an initial merger agreement on Ashad 20, 2076 following which the agreement to name the newly formed bank as Global IME Bank was reached. Similarly, the new bank will have 5 BoDs from GBIME while two from JBNL where Mr. Chandra Prasad Dhakal from the GBIME group will head the board as chairman. The executive level management will have Mr. Parshuram Kunwor Chhetri from the JBNL as the new CEO while the existing Acting CEO of GBIME Mr. Mahesh Sharma Dhakal will continue as Senior DY CEO.

Following the final nod from the NRB and the subsequent joint operation following the AGMs of both the institutions, the revamped bank will be the biggest commercial bank of Nepal with Rs 19 arba in paid up capital, Rs 2.12 kharba in deposit collection figure, Rs 2 kharba in loan disbursement, more than 850 branches and service points nationwide, 300 plus branches, 3250 plus employees, 256 ATMs, 241 branchless banking units, 33 extension and revenue collection counters, and 3 foreign relation offices.
