Germany to Provide Euro 37.6 Million in Development Aid to Nepal Over Two Years

Germany has pledged €37.6 million in technical and financial assistance to Nepal for the next two years, reaffirming its commitment to the bilateral development partnership. The announcement was made during inter governmental negotiations on Nepal-Germany development cooperation, with both sides agreeing to prioritise energy, sustainable economic development, and health in the upcoming collaboration, according to the German Embassy in Kathmandu.
Nepal's delegation was led by Dhaniram Sharma, Chief of the International Economic Assistance Coordination Division under the Ministry of Finance, while the German side was headed by Barbara Schaefer, Head of the South Asia Division at Germany's Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).
The assistance is earmarked for renewable energy promotion, energy efficiency, strengthening of electricity distribution systems, green and resilient agricultural development, revenue sector reforms, quality infrastructure, gender equality, and expansion of financial access.
