Former Government Secretary Kishor Thapa Appointed TU Service Commission Chairperson
Former Government of Nepal Secretary and senior urban planner Kishor Thapa has been appointed as the Chairperson of the Tribhuvan University Service Commission. The appointment was made by Prime Minister and Chancellor of Tribhuvan University, Balendra Shah.
Alongside the appointment, Prof Dr Rejina Maskey has been named as a member of the Service Commission. The recommendation for the chairperson position was made by a selection committee led by TU Pro-Chancellor and Minister of Education and Sports, Sasmit Pokharel, after reviewing applications and shortlisting three candidates for the post.
Widely recognized as an architect and urban development expert, Thapa has served the Government of Nepal for over four decades in key leadership roles across several ministries and institutions. During his civil service career, he held the position of secretary at the Ministry of Urban Development, Ministry of Education, Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, and the Secretariat of the Water and Energy Commission, among others.
In addition to his government service, Thapa also served as an expert member of the Steering Committee of the National Reconstruction Authority. He is currently associated with the Nepal Institute of Urban and Regional Studies as an urban planner and also serves as a visiting faculty member at Kathmandu University. His appointment is expected to bring extensive administrative experience and technical expertise to the university’s service management and institutional development.
