FNCCI to hold anti-banda campaign
KATHMANDU, FEB 03 -
The Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) has decided to run a campaign against strikes and bandas.
In a statement, the private sector body said on Monday it will hold discussions on the issue with stakeholders.
“Political parties should institutionalise the achievements that have been achieved so far and forge a consensus to come up with a constitution which will help Nepal excel on the route of economic prosperity,” the statement read.
It said the campaign will be run through 96 District Chamber and Commerce, 91 commodities association, and the network of 635 different business enterprises. The campaign will include
acts like spontaneous mobilisation of manpower against strike, awareness programs, discussions, meetings, interactions and peaceful rallies, among others.
“We will discuss the matter with all the stakeholders and then come up with further programmes to discourage strikes and bandas,” it said, adding a one-day strike causes Rs 2 billion loss to economy.
