First time after Dashain, Nepse in green zone with modest gain of 3 points

The benchmark index of Nepal Stock Exchange Limited (Nepse) posted a modest gain of 3.01 points or 0.33 percent to close at 911.84 level today.

For the first time after the Dashain holidays, the market has ended in green zone with all sub-indices except two posting moderate gains. Though it is hard to pinpoint the exact cause for the improvement, the move by CDSCL to dispel rumors about delayed CDS operations could be one of the factors.

Looking at the group-wise performance, the Banking group gained 5.84 points to close at 806.15 level, Hotels gained 7.73 points, Development Bank 0.66 point, Finance 2.6 points and the Insurance group gained 9.71 points.

The Hydropower and the Others group, however, shed 10.15 and 5.87 points respectively.

The total market turnover stood at Rs 16.24 crore, which is slightly lower than that of yesterday – thanks to the festive mood and some confusion regarding demat trading of commercial banks’ scrips, which cover for around 80 percent of the total market cap.
