FinMin urges WB to invest in energy sector
KATHMANDU, Jan 20 :
Finance Minister Ram Sharan Mahat has urged World Bank (WB) to invest in energy sector of Nepal.
At a meeting with Annette Dixon, vice president of WB for South Asia Region held at Ministry of Finance (MoF) on Monday, Mahat said that the World Bank and other investors can invest in energy and other infrastructures sectors of Nepal without any fear.
Informing that Nepal´s economy is making significant progress, Mahat praised World Bank´s constant support to Nepal as per the country´s need, plan and priority. “If we are to become a developing country by 2022, we need to make huge investments in infrastructure sector,” he added.
Meanwhile, Dixon told Minister Mahat that the World Bank would increase subsidized loan to Nepal which would be crucial for infrastructure development in the country.
