FinMin directs officials to focus on budget implementation
KATHMANDU, July 18:
Minister for Finance Ram Sharan Mahat has directed government officials to focus seriously on budget implementation.
Stating that the budget has been prepared after thorough study, he urged all concerned to focus on successful implementation of budgetary programs.
"All of you played a great role to make International Conference on Nepal's Reconstruction (ICNR) a grand success. Now I expect your active role in implementation of budget. Otherwise, we cannot get desired result no matter how well-planned the budget is," Mahat said in a meeting with heads of various departments and offices under the finance ministry.
Mahat said the country on track of achieving economic growth of 5 percent before the earthquake. "But we should not be disappointed. We can achieve the target again," he added.
The finance minister said efforts of ministry of finance alone will not be sufficient to meet growth target. "Other development-related ministries should properly utilize resources allocated to them," he added.
Mahat also urged officials to work in coordination to meet revenue targets. "Bill of Accounts has been passed. Now all the departments should begin their work," he added.
Similarly, Finance Secretary Suman Prasad Sharma said the ministry has already sent spending authorization to different ministries.
