Nepali Congress (NC) leader Dr. Shekhar Koirala has confirmed that the forthcoming government will be established in accordance with Article 76(2) of the Constitution of Nepal. He also voiced his displeasure over the media allegedly misrepresenting his previous statements.

"Different views are being reported in the media regarding whether the next government will be formed in accordance with Article 76(2) or 76(3) of the Constitution," Koirala stated during a scholarship distribution program at a school in Jorpati on Tuesday. "There is no doubt that the next government will be formed in accordance with Article 76(2) of the Constitution."

Article 76(2) allows for the formation of a government by two or more parties, while Article 76(3) stipulates that the President appoint the parliamentary party leader of the largest party represented in the parliament as the Prime Minister.

The NC and CPN-UML have already agreed to form the next government under the leadership of KP Oli, despite Sher Bahadur Deuba being the parliamentary party leader of the NC, the largest party in the parliament.

Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal is preparing to take a vote of confidence on July 12. He has written a letter to the Federal Parliament requesting the necessary preparations.

Maoist Center leaders have claimed that if Prime Minister Dahal does not secure the vote of confidence in line with Article 76(2) on July 12, the next government will be formed in accordance with Article 76(3) of the Constitution.

Koirala clarified that he does not support forming the government under Article 76(3). "The media have twisted my previous statements. I want to make it clear that the next government will be formed in line with Article 76(2)," said Koirala. "This will help create political stability in the country, ensure good governance, and address the loopholes of the Constitution," he added.
