Rasuwagadhi Hydropower Project Halts Electricity Generation Following Flood Damage

Rasuwagadhi Hydropower Company has informed that electricity generation from its 111 MW Rasuwagadhi Hydropower Project has been temporarily halted due to severe damage caused by a massive flood in the Bhotekoshi River.

The flood occurred on Ashadh 24, 2082, and has inflicted significant damage to key infrastructures, including the dam site, residential quarters, and the access road connecting the quarters to the powerhouse. The company stated that these damages are the result of an uncontrollable natural event.

The project, located on the border of wards 1 and 2 of Gosainkunda Rural Municipality in Rasuwa district, had begun commercial electricity generation on Poush 16, 2081. The company has requested understanding as operations remain suspended until further notice due to the unforeseen situation.
