Dr. Rewat Bahadur Karki, Niraj Giri and Dr. Dandapani Poudel recommended for the post of Chairperson of SEBON

For the post of chairperson of Securities Board of Nepal (SEBON) the name of Dr. Rewat Bahadur Karki, Niraj Giri and Dr. Dandapani Poudel has been recommended. A recommendation panel led by Dr. Swornim Wagle, a member of National Planning Commission has forwarded these three names. The tenure of present chairman Baburam Shrestha will end on Ashwin 29, 2072, after that the responsibility will be held by the new chairman. The meeting of the Council of Ministers will pick the chairman of SEBON from the three recomended names. The tenure of the chairperson lasts for 4 years. Dr. Rewat Bahadur Karki has a better chance to become the chairperson of SEBON because of the close relationship with Prime Minister Sushil Koirala and Finance Minister Dr. Ram Sharan Mahat . Dr. Karki is an ex employee of Nepal Rastra Bank and has also been Managing director of Nepal Stcok Exchange Limited (NEPSE). At present, he is the chairman of the Rastra Banijya Bank and also the expert director of the board. Dr. Poudel is also an ex employee of Nepal Rastra Bank. At present, he is the Managing Director of Deposit and Credit guarantee corporation. Whereas Niraj Giri is Executive Director of SEBON at present.
